SWNM State Fair

Field Crops: Vegetables & Fruit

  1. All entries and awards in this department shall be subject to the general rules and regulations.
  2. An entry fee of $1.00, not to exceed $15.00 in each department will be charged to each exhibitor, ``payable at the time of entry.
  3. Not more than one sample of any variety of farm products grown on the same farm may be entered for premiums.
  4. This department will be open to receive entries on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  5. After the entry of exhibits, same shall be under the control of the Superintendent, and no one will be allowed to remove or change them until the exhibition is closed Sunday, October 12, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sweepstakes and Best of Show Awards will be based on donations.
  6. A plate shall consist of five apples, or pears, or peaches, or three bunches of grapes.
  7. When there is no competition or when the exhibit is not worthy of first prize, the Judges alone shall place it in the class to which it belongs, as judged by the standard of such articles.
  8. Junior classes will be set up under the same listings with the exception of special classes.
  9. Premium awards are: 1st - $5.00, 2nd - $2.00 , 3rd - $1.00.
  10. Premium awards may be picked up at the cashier’s window located in the office in the Cotton Building on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  11. NO CASH PREMIUMS WILL BE PAID UNLESS THE AWARD SHOWS ON THE JUDGE’S SHEETS.
  12. Only listed fair book varieties will be judged and be eligible for prize money, unless three separate individuals present a new variety for consideration.
  13. Best of Show awards will go to the following categories based on donations:
    Junior Chili
    Junior Watermelon
    Junior Cotton
    Sweepstakes Runner-up
    Senior Chili
    Senior Watermelon
    Senior Cotton
    Sweepstakes Winner
  14. Youth entries will be marked with a “y” before the class

NOTE: Must have at least three entries to be eligible for sweepstakes.
